Brain Olympic: Adventure Beyond Numbers is the name of the Boundless Mathematics activity in the form of a competition aimed at EYP, Primary 1, and Primary 2 students. This game stimulates a wide range of multiple intelligences. Students will engage in various exciting activities that make it easier for them to recognize mathematics in everyday life. One of the games also requires parental involvement to add to the fun of the game.

RESCUE LOGICO

Overview

  1. An individual competition, i.e. 1 on 1 game.
  2. Each participant will complete a mission, which is having a journey to the castle to rescue Logico.
  3. Each participant must stand at the starting line, go along the pathways and enter the finish line, opening the castle gate and rescue Logico, as fast as possible.
  4. Each participant will be given 5 (five) different challenges during the journey.
  5. The challenges are designed following different level of difficulties. Each participant must finish them in order.
  • Challenge 1 : arranging numbers in order
  • Challenge 2 : comparing animals of different sounds
  • Challenge 3 : solving a simple story word problem
  • Challenge 4 : completing pattern
  • Challenge 5 : solving a simple puzzle
  1. Participants who can complete all missions successfully and faster will be the winners.

Overview 

  1. Each child will work in pair with parent
  2. Each team, i.e. child and the parent, work together to collect shapes and characters scattered in the playground area
  3. Parent will play the role of giving instructions, while the child will play the role of carrying out the task
  4. The instructions will be in a form of verbal instruction
  5. The parent is only allowed to convey instructions according to what is written on the card
  6. The child will do the challenge as instructed by the parent
  7. The first child to successfully complete the challenge according to the instructions is the winner.

Overview

  1. The teacher will tell a short story based on one of the IEYC or IPC themes
  2. Children are tasked with listening to the story and identifying important things in the story
  3. Children will be given 1 set of cards containing random images
  4. Children will sort the pictures according to the order of the story
  5. The child who succeeds in attaching the pictures in the correct order becomes the winner

Overview

  1. Three children will play in one round
  2. Each child will be given the task of moving items from a large box to several small boxes
  3. Large boxes contain several objects of different sizes and colours, or objects of specific themes, e.g. natural themes to differentiate animals and plants
  4. The child’s task is to move the objects into small boxes according to their categories, namely colour boxes and size boxes, or animal and plant boxes
  5. The child who succeeds in moving the object according to the provisions, and the fastest, is the winner

FOLLOW TRIGO

Overview

  1. Four participants will be placed on a square grid 10×10
  2. Each grid consists of different numbers, shapes and Boundless Mathematic icon
  3. Each participant will compete following these instructions:
  • Each participant must step on the path with Trigo character only
  • Each grid can only be filled with one person
  • Each participant must move step by step, grid by grid, to find the way to reach Trigo’s House
  • Each participant must collect numbers less than 10 around Trigo’s grid
  1. The winners will be decided following these rules
  • 1st person entering Trigo’s house will get 90 points
  • 2nd person entering Trigo’s house will get 70 points 
  • 3rd person entering Trigo’s house will get 50 points
  • 4th person entering Trigo’s house will get 30 points
  • Any correct number that each participant collected stands for 10 points
  • Wrong numbers will be counted in case of winners with the same points.

Note: for younger learners, the scoring can also be replaced by using number of characters instead of points, e.g. 1st person entering Trigo’s house will get 10 Trigo stickers, 2nd person entering Trigo’s house will get 7 stickers, etc. The winners are those who have more stickers than others. *** LC/R
